Good communication is the foundation of everything we create, and making it clear and accessible ensures everyone can understand and take part.

  • In Australia, more than 5.5 million people (Disability, Ageing and Carers, Australia: Summary of Findings), or about one in five Australians, live with some form of disability, and this number is rising over time.
  • Around half of all older Australians (those aged 65 and over) have a disability, and the proportion of people aged 65+ in the population is also growing.
  • These numbers show that a large and increasing share of the community may find digital content hard to use if it isn’t clear and accessible.
  • That’s why learning the basics of digital accessibility, like good fonts, colours, and clear structure, helps you reach and include more people, including those with disability and older Australians who increasingly rely on digital information and services.

Spend one hour learning how to make your digital content easier for everyone to use. It’s clear, practical and easy to understand. You will leave knowing exactly what to do next.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to choose accessible fonts.

  • How to choose colours that work well together.

  • How to name files and headings clearly.

  • What makes a table simple and easy to follow?

  • Practical tips you can use straight away in documents, emails and online content.
